Surviving Humanity

Some say that there is not enough time
That the clock is against us
That time is running out
But, there is and has always been time

Before clocks, calendars or schedules
Before late fees, due dates and deadlines
Before rush, hurry and faster, there was time
We have never run out of time
We just don’t know what to make of it

Time has not passed
So we are not surviving it
No need to mourn yesterday
There is always another time

Instead, we are the hurdles
We are what we must fight against,
the ones that are running out
Abandoning
Dying
Empty

We hold hands to form a wall
Embrace to hold back
Our tongues are snares
Stranded
We jump over
Push back
And try not to fall into people
