I’m just returning to my hotel room in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where I am serving as a speaker and workshop facilitator this weekend.  Tonight, I performed a spoken word piece titled “When I Worship” and have been asked to publish it on the blog so here it is.

When I worship, time sits still and waits for me

I hold his hands and become eternal

Singing, “Holy, Holy, Holy” until seconds become centuries become seconds

Crying, “Abba, Father” until darkness becomes day, until darkness becomes day

Until there is no more darkness only day

Lifting my hands until they touch the heart of God

 

When I worship, the sun never sets

It only rises

And I only rise, never setting

Never sitting down to be entertained but standing to exalt Him

Scheduling what is televised

Removing the remote control of society

I worship until the devil changes channels

Until curses are muted and the volume of God is turned up

 

When I worship, trees bark and rocks are unable to cry out,

Covering their mouths in awe

Grass is no longer greener because there are no sides

No colors for all become transparent

Seeing through to the heart of man

Whose hands obey his head and do not join in when I worship because

 

When I worship, I dance like David in an “I slew Goliath t-shirt”

I write psalms on my palms so the devil can’t read them

They are battle plans for God teaches my hands to war,

Slicing the serpent with the Sword of the Spirit

That tells him a number of things to include the revelation of his soon coming lamentations over his exodus to hell due to his acts

Just ask the Romans, the two Corinthians, the Galatians, Ephesians, the Philippians, Colossians, the first and second Thessalonians about when I worship because

 

When I worship, the Holy Spirit becomes cannabilistic and begins to eat away my flesh, which profits me nothing

So I worship until I enter postmortem praise

Until there is no more feeling only faith that sends mountains eviction notices, telling them of the sea that is for sale

Until there is only His blood for to live is Christ and to die is gain

When I worship
