Thanksgiving Day as one of mourning?

See the source imageThis is what some persons indigenous to what is now the United States say.  Mic recently posted an article as well as a video capturing a portion of a couple of women’s perspective on the holiday.  So, while we are passing the turkey and gravy, let us not pass over the experience of others on Thanksgiving Day.  As we spend time with family and scream at the television with friends about our favorite football teams, remember the native people groups.  Because stories are never one- sided and one culture should never serve as a narrator for all of human experience.

For many Americans, Thanksgiving is a holiday but for the native people, it reminds them of the horrors endured by their ancestors.  And for this, they mourn so it is not only a Happy Thanksgiving.
