Out of Order

Our skin was made for us.  We were not made for our skin.  Consequently, it is not our skin that must change but our additional uses for it.  Skin was not added to us to shape, determine or influence our identity.  Its social coloring does not say who we are or who we will be.  It should not suggest how we should be treated or how we will treat others.  Our skin should not speak for us.  Seems simple enough, right?  Wrong.

Many of us live as citizens under the reign of skin.  Though there was no election, race continues to rule our lives.  It is a tyrannical rule that makes us feel that it is for the people and by the people.  But, race is not for all the people and is not lead by all the people.

I did not vote for race; I wasn’t convince of its campaign slogan.  Race’s past contributions to humanity do not suggest for me that it is a leader, that it would best serve our humanity.  It has been reelected but generation after generation.  And even if I am the only one that chooses not to vote because race is the best that society has to offer, I still believe that we are not to serve our skin but our skin is to serve us.

Our skin was not added to us to take away from our humanity.  It was not made to discourage us from living, from trying to reach for the goals that God has set in our hearts.  Skin is to cover our bodies and to protect our skeletal structure not hide our true identity.  It was never meant to be a cloak or a magic carpet.  That’s not why God put skin on us or made it a part of our bodies.  It was never meant to be a burden and is certainly not a cross to bear.  It’s just skin.

Race has given our skin a position for which it is not qualified or purposed for.  And in doing so has created a ranking system that is out of order. It is out of order because it places the flesh above the spirit, the external above the internal, stereotypes above reality, prejudices above truth.  Why would we continue to use something that is out of order and that places our lives in the same position?

  1. Well said. Hopefully some day soon we will just be people, just human beings that belong to the single family of the human race. Judgments on how you treat your fellow humanity, regarded by what you say and do…not on what you look like or where you come from.

  2. As I have tried to explain to you, race is genetic, and affects far more than skin color. Hair texture, obviously, and bone structure, facial features, blood antibodies, disease susceptibilities, and BEHAVIOR.

Yes, all human behavior traits are heritable, meaning affected by genes, and race has a profound impact on cognitive traits, like personality and intelligence.

Whether you vote for race or not, race exists, and it is innate. Understanding the science of race is necessary before you can talk coherently about it. That’s why you’re not talking coherently about it, and that’s why you’re not going to change anything for the better.
