“The light shines in darkness and the darkness did not overcome it.”

In the midst of the seemingly unending and untraceable darkness of racism, I find hope in the light of Christ.  He is the Light of the world and we are called to bear witness to Him no matter how dark the days.  Take courage. Darkness cannot overcome light.  Shine.

I will light candles this Christmas;
Candles of joy despite all sadness,
Candles of hope where despair keeps watch,
Candles of courage for fears ever present,

Candles of peace for tempest-tossed days,
Candles of grace to ease heavy burdens,
Candles of love to inspire all my living,
Candles that will burn all the year long.
