“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.”
~ Second Corinthians 5.17, KJV
I cannot say what will be left of us. Our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ are filled with both lessons learned and unlearned. Christ while teaching is adding to us a depth of being and knowing that can only be acquired in and through a relationship with him. But, he is also undoing us, stripping us of our senseless defenses. Christ is unraveling us, revealing the true nature of our character with each pull and turn. He is untangling us from the snares of this world, drawing us closer to him.
Jesus is changing our direction, slowly turning our heads away from the glares and stares of this world. We will not look upon our appearance the same and our orientation with this world’s systems will change. We will be someone new; we will see something new in a world that claims to have “seen it all before.” But, have we really? Have we seen a new creation in Christ Jesus?
Jesus did not come to save our color- coded bodies, our cultures or our political convictions. Jesus came to save our souls. I am not privy to all of the lesson plans that Christ has for his disciples. But, of this one thing, I am certain: we will not be the same.
